Jacobean embroidery flourished during the reign of King James I (Jacobus being the Latin form of James) from 1567–1625. The style emphasized natural forms such as plants and animals.

This design is based on Margaret Laton's embroidered jacket, the only example of a Jacobean garment which has survived along with its portrait. The jacket is exquisitely decorated with elements of a verdant garden, including flowers, vines, birds, and even snails.

Pure white background.
