Critter ties hail from the maritime tradition of New England, and typically depict native creatures such as lobsters, crabs, and ducks. The best critter is the whale, and the best depiction of a whale is the whale with a water spout.
As this design is so rare, and we couldn't find one that was perfect, we decided to draw this whale ourselves. Keen whale watchers will recognize this stately cetacean as a sperm whale, the same species as Moby Dick.
